Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (ADST) Grade 6/7


 

Big Ideas

  • Design can be responsive to identified needs
  • Complex tasks require the acquisition of additional skills
  • Complex tasks may require multiple tools and technologies

As a means to address the ADST Curricular Competencies in Grade 6 and 7, students can choose a minimum of 3 specific disciplines (resources for each of these are listed below) such as:

Computational Thinking, Computers and Communications Devices, Digital Literacy, Drafting, Entrepreneurship and Marketing, Food Studies, Media Arts, Metalwork, Power Technology, Robotics, Textiles, and Woodwork

There is a BC teachers’ site for coding resources:  http://codebc.ca/  (Coding Resources Connected to BC’s Curriculum)  This is free to everyone.  First, you choose the grade level.  Then comes the part you’ll especially like:  on the right-hand side navigation, you can choose resources according to your own skills and knowledge in coding.  Enjoy the resources!
