Gizmos are interactive math and science simulations, with classes we have set up for grades 3-9 in math and science. Over 400 Gizmos aligned to the latest standards help educators bring powerful new learning experiences to the classroom.  Gizmos use an inquiry-based approach to learning that has been validated by extensive research as a highly effective way to build conceptual understanding.

Discover Concepts
Interactive design allows for extensive manipulation of variables and “what-if” experimentation.

Analyze Data
Visualizations and graphing tools help capture and compare results from experiments.

Go Deeper
In-depth activities create more moments to explore, discover and apply new concepts.

Correlations to Gizmos and the new BC curriculum are found here.  PARENTS MAY CHOOSE ANY GRADE IN GIZMOS, ACCORDING TO THEIR STUDENT’S INTEREST.  By going to this correlations page, they can see what is offered in each grade.

Parents and students may also see the actual Gizmos available in each lesson by going to the Shared Gizmo Lists for Math & Science (document) or Finding and Using the Shared Gizmo Lists (video).  These lists may be shared with anyone, and do not require a login to access them.  The Shared Gizmo List allows you to see which Gizmos we have in each grade, to view the Gizmos and resources available for them, but not to save your work; the site will lock you out after only a few minutes using a Gizmo.  To work in Gizmos, saving your progress, set up an account as described below.

Setting Up a Gizmos Account

To find the class code which allows you to access the Gizmos for a particular grade, parents should choose “Curriculum Resources” on their Encom home page, then scroll down to find the link for Gizmos.

The following document will give you instructions for setting up a student account in Gizmos:  How to Sign up in Gizmos Using a Class Code,  or you can watch a video explaining How to Sign up Students in Gizmos.
