Eighth-grade science offers fun and challenge to budding scientists! Topics explored will deepen student knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology and earth and space science. Opportunities to fully employ the scientific method are found throughout each kit. Students will also be challenged to complete inquiry-based learning, conduct research, design their own experiments and projects, and present their learning to others. Each kit is designed to integrate the Modernized BC Curriculum Core Competencies: Communication, Creative and Critical Thinking, and Personal and Social Skills/Knowledge.
Topics explored in our eighth-grade science kits include the Electromagnetic Spectrum and Light, Kinetic Molecular Theory and Atomic Energy, Plate Tectonics, and Cells. Each kit also integrates concepts in numeracy, literacy, technology, and design thinking! Kits can be completed in any order based on student interest and availability of materials.
Science kits are designed to be completed over a period of 6-8 weeks depending on the number of activities selected. Each eighth-grade science kit is divided into sections based on driving questions. You will have the opportunity to work through each kit section by choosing your own materials, projects and activities to create a unique learning experience with your child.
We have worked diligently to choose an array of exciting learning opportunities for every learner! Our eighth-grade science kits feature a unique component, a science journal, that student will work on compiling as they complete each kit. The materials, projects, and activities contained in the kit have been carefully selected to address the big ideas, competencies, and content of BC’s Modernized Curriculum.
