Fourth-grade social studies is filled with adventure! In the fourth grade Social Studies Kits we dive into the past where we learn about the history of exploration in Canada, the impact of colonization on First Peoples, and the unique path British Columbia has taken to become the province we know and love today!
Each fourth-grade social studies kit is designed to integrate the Modernized BC Curriculum Core Competencies: Communication, Creative and Critical Thinking, and Personal and Social Skills/Knowledge. Content areas explored in fourth-grade social studies include: Exploration and The History of British Columbia.
Topics are explored through reading, viewing, technology-based resources and interactives, research, and hands-on projects and activities. Each kit also integrates concepts in numeracy, literacy, art, technology, and design thinking! Feel free to complete kits in whichever order meets your family’s needs.
Social Studies kits are designed to be completed over a period of 6-8 weeks depending on the number of activities selected. Each fourth-grade social studies kit is divided into sections based on driving questions. You will have the opportunity to work through each kit section by choosing your own materials, projects and activities to create a unique learning experience for your child.
We have worked diligently to choose an array of exciting learning opportunities for every learner! The materials, projects, and activities contained in the kit have been carefully selected to address the big ideas, competencies, and content of BC’s Modernized Curriculum.
