Third-grade students are in for an exciting year as they work through the Learning Commons Science Kits! Third graders explore concepts in chemistry, physics, biology, and earth/space science through reading, viewing, experimentation, and hands-on projects and activities. Each kit is designed to integrate the Modernized BC Curriculum Core Competencies: Communication, Creative and Critical Thinking, and Personal and Social Skills/Knowledge.
Topics explored in our third-grade science kits include: Thermal Energy, Landforms and Erosion, Biodiversity and Ecosystems, and All Matter is Made of Particles. Each kit also integrates concepts in numeracy, literacy, art, technology, and design thinking! Kits can be completed in any order based on student interest and availability of materials.
Science kits are designed to be completed over a period of 6-8 weeks depending on the number of activities selected. Each third-grade science kit is divided into sections based around driving questions. You will have the opportunity to work through each kit section by choosing your own materials, projects and activities to create a unique learning experience for your child.
We have worked diligently to choose an array of exciting learning opportunities for every learner! The materials, projects, and activities contained in the kit have been carefully selected to address the big ideas, competencies, and content of BC’s Modernized Curriculum.
