Third graders embark on a dynamic exploration of indigenous cultures and societies within Canada, and around the globe. This exciting year enabled third-grade learners to delve deeply into the concepts of community, culture, identity, and story. We spend time looking to the past, examining the present, and imagining the future. Each third-grade social studies kit is designed to integrate the Modernized BC Curriculum Core Competencies: Communication, Creative and Critical Thinking, and Personal and Social Skills/Knowledge.
Content areas explored in third-grade social studies include: Indigenous People of Canada and Indigenous People Around the World. Each kit also integrates concepts in numeracy, literacy, art, technology, and design thinking! Feel free to complete kits in whichever order meets your family’s needs.
Social Studies kits are designed to be completed over a period of 6-8 weeks depending on the number of activities selected. Each third-grade social studies kit is divided into sections based on driving questions. You will have the opportunity to work through each kit section by choosing your own materials, projects and activities to create a unique learning experience for your child.
We have worked diligently to choose an array of exciting learning opportunities for every learner! The materials, projects, and activities contained in the kit have been carefully selected to address the big ideas, competencies, and content of BC’s Modernized Curriculum.
