HCOS TEAMS ADVANCE TO ROBOTICS COMPETITION INVITATIONAL ROUND
This year’s Wonder League Robotics Competition boasts 7,890 teams registered and close to 35,500 kids participating from 69 countries.
Congratulations Teams GET A CUE, SOCIAL CUE, and THAT’S MY CUE!
The Wonder League Robotics Competition is an initiative of Wonder Workshop, the creators of Dash and Cue robots, made to inspire a love of coding, computer science, tangible learning, and STEAM education.
On January 7th and 14th, 2019, twenty-two HCOS students gathered at the Salvation Army Church in Chilliwack, making up eight teams hopeful to complete a series of 5 story-based missions, and be considered for the invitational round coming up this March.
This year’s competition missions took place on allegorical vast seas, where teams were asked to navigate and explore our oceans while conducting research and daring rescues.
We are pleased to announce that three teams have advanced to the Invitational Round in March – congratulations teams Social Cue, That’s My Cue, and Get a Cue!
Team Get a Cue: Micah Duncalfe, Joel Algera and Thomas Rompf
Team Social Cue: Nyls Janssen, Kylian Janssen and Graeme Wiebe
Team That’s My Cue: Jordy Gadsden, Jesse Krause and Ezra Krause
INVITATIONAL ROUND MARCH 11TH, 2019
Teams invited to the final invitational round will gather once again to compete to be crowned the next WLRC world champions!
Coding is the new team sport for future tech leaders and innovators. Teams will develop problem-solving and creativity skills while building meaningful relationships with their peers and having fun! Plus, they will display their scientific thinking through authentic journaling.
This final mission will build on what teams have learned as they compete to win the Grand Prize!
Good Luck

This is fantastic! Which grade can the kids be allowed to enter this event?
This event was for ages 11 – 14, the oldest of 3 age categories. The competition is well under way, and the teams that are progressing to the Invitational Round have completed and submitted their first five missions, so the event is currently closed to new participants. Hopefully, we’ll enter again next year!
