Kindergarteners are fascinated by the world around them! In the kindergarten year, we begin to investigate the world close to home, and how our actions impact others. Each kit is designed to integrate the Modernized BC Curriculum Core Competencies: Communication, Creative and Critical Thinking, and Personal and Social Skills/Knowledge.
Content areas explored in kindergarten social studies include: Personal and Family History, and Communities. Each kit also integrates concepts in numeracy, literacy, art, technology, and design thinking! We recommend starting with Personal and Family History before branching out into an exploration of Communities. However, feel free to complete kits in whichever order works best for your family.
Social Studies kits are designed to be completed over a period of 6-8 weeks depending on the number of activities selected. Each kindergarten social studies kit is divided into sections based on driving questions. You will have the opportunity to work through each kit section by choosing your own materials, projects and activities to create a unique learning experience for your child.
We have worked diligently to choose an array of exciting learning opportunities for every learner! The materials, projects, and activities contained in the kit have been carefully selected to address the big ideas, competencies, and content of BC’s Modernized Curriculum.
