Fourth graders continue to build their scientific knowledge as they complete the Learning Commons Science Kits! Topics in chemistry, physics, biology, and earth/space science are all explored this year through reading, viewing, experimentation, and hands-on projects and activities. Fourth grade is an exciting year where learners continue to be challenged to think deeply, ask questions, design experiments, and explore their own interests within each content area!

Each kit is designed to integrate the Modernized BC Curriculum Core Competencies: Communication, Creative and Critical Thinking, and Personal and Social Skills/Knowledge.  Topics explored in our fourth-grade science kits include: Matter, Solids, Liquids, and Gases, Habitats, Biomes, and Ecosystems, Energy, and Earth, Sun, and Moon. Each kit also integrates concepts in numeracy, literacy, art, technology, and design thinking! Kits can be completed in any order based on student interest and availability of materials.

Science kits are designed to be completed over a period of 6-8 weeks depending on the number of activities selected. Each fourth-grade science kit is divided into sections based on driving questions. You will have the opportunity to work through each kit section by choosing your own materials, projects and activities to create a unique learning experience for your child.

We have worked diligently to choose an array of exciting learning opportunities for every learner! The materials, projects, and activities contained in the kit have been carefully selected to address the big ideas, competencies, and content of BC’s Modernized Curriculum.
