Second-grade science is filled to the brim with exciting topics and concepts for growing learners to explore through reading, viewing, experiments, activities, and projects! Each kit is designed to integrate the Modernized BC Curriculum Core Competencies: Communication, Creative and Critical Thinking, and Personal and Social Skills/Knowledge.
Topics explored in our first-grade science kits include: Water, Physical and Chemical Changes of Matter, Life Cycle of Plants and Animals, and Force. Each kit also integrates concepts in numeracy, literacy, art, technology, and design thinking!

Log in to BrainPOP Jr. for the science videos available for Gr. K-3.
Go to BrainPOP Educators (no login required) which has the option to choose BC curriculum standards.

Log in to Discovery Education Canada and search for science topics. There will be topics such as: earth/space science, inquiry, life science, physical science, science and technology, and science in personal and social perspectives.
Discovery Education Streaming Plus offers students award-winning digital or multimedia content. (K-12 content) Look for a full description under “Subscriptions” in the main menu above.
Log in to Explora Primary. Scroll to find Science topics.
EBSCOhost’s Explora is a site to encourage student research with extensive, reliable content and ease of use. (K-12 content) Look for a full description under “Subscriptions” in the main menu above.
Log in to Enchanted Learning or to Enchanted Learning – Science and look for science topics. There are topics such as biology, astronomy, chemistry and physics, geology, weather/seasons/climate and the earth.
Enchanted Learning produces educational materials, mostly for Gr. K-3, which emphasize creativity and joy in learning. Look for a full description under “Subscriptions” in the main menu above.
Log in to KnowBC and search by going to an encyclopedia or book and searching it.
KnowBC is the leading general reference site for British Columbia, including such resources as the Encyclopedia of British Columbia and other reference works. (Gr. K-12) Look for a full description under “Subscriptions” in the main menu above.
First log in to Learn360 before you choose a topic or “click” on a link. Once in Learn360 select a topic such as Biology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Family and Consumer Sciences, or Physical Science, then filter for the appropriate grade range.
Learn360 is a media-on-demand service or digital video library for Gr. K-12, with digital, audio and other support materials. Look for a full description under “Subscriptions” in the main menu above.
Go to Mystery Science. Choose a mystery you would like to study, then contact your support teacher to have them give you a 10-day link to view it.
Mystery Science provides ready-made science ‘mysteries’ for elementary students in Gr. K-5, created to encourage children’s curiosity. Look for a full description under “Subscriptions” in the main menu above.
Log in to PebbleGo to find science topics for Gr. K-3.
PebbleGo is a research site for students in Gr. K-3 (Animals, Science, Social Studies and Dinosaurs), which has read-along audio. Look for a full description under “Subscriptions” in the main menu above.
